Nollywood actor Taye Arimoro has dismissed his indefinite suspension by the Directors Guild of Nigeria, Actors Guild of Nigeria, and the Association of Movie Producers, describing their statement as inaccurate and promising to challenge the decision in court.
The dispute stems from a heated on-set altercation with producer Peggy Ovire on November 11. Arimoro alleged he was blocked from leaving after his call time elapsed and assaulted by Ovire and her team, later demanding N100 million in compensation. Ovire, however, countered that his version of events was misleading and materially false.
In their disciplinary letter, the guilds ordered Arimoro to issue a public apology, release a corrective video, and return to complete pending scenes under supervision. Ovire was also directed to apologise for failing to de-escalate the situation. Reacting on Instagram, Arimoro insisted the guilds’ report failed to capture the true events and confirmed his legal team was preparing a comprehensive response.
