Nigeria Female Military Veteran Association on Tuesday marked her one year anniversary in a modest celebration at Nigeria Legion House.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Founder / National Coordinator Female Military Veteran Association and National Chairman Nigerian Legion, MorenIke Grace Henry urged Nigerians to support efforts of President Bola Tinubu’s administration to give the country a. new lease of life .
Henry said the association inaugurated last year with faith and conviction has begun “to give voice and a home to Nigerian female veterans.”
“We knew that our service didn’t end when we left the service; it simply took a new form – one of advocacy, empowerment and continued service to our nation,” she said, and expressed her gratitude to all.
“Today ,as we mark our one year anniversary,I am filled with gratitude. Gratitude for the women who stood up and said “We are still here” Gratitude for every supporter who believes in our visions and gratitude for the unity that now binds us as one family of veterans”.
The Founder / National Coordinator Female Military Veteran Association and National Chairman Nigerian Legion said her position is to ensure that “every veterans, especially our women veterans is respected , supported and remembered.”
She reminded the celebrants and audience of the association clear mission: To strengthen welfare for female veterans:
To provide empowerment opportunities that restored dignity and self- reliance , Thirdly, to build lasting partnerships that help us turn compassion into concrete results “
She said that in this phase,, *we aim to establish funding for our association , deepen collaboration with both government , International and private organisations.
“We want every female veteran to know that their service and sacrifices still matters- deeply.
“To my fellow female veterans, you are the heart beat of this vision.You have served with courage and continued to inspire hope. To our friends and partners ,thank you for walking this part with us.
And to Almighty God, who began this good work, We give You all the praises, because You will surely perfect it.”
She said the new chapter is bring greater strength, unity and progress to our association and to the entire Nigerian Legion.
The National Chairman Nigerian Legion appealed to all retired service personnel to register with Nigerian Legion in their Local Government Council Area and be active and take.part in the planned Nigerian Legion veteran villages and farm’s projects scheduled to commence next year.
