The ongoing bribery and fraud trial involving former Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, his wife Hafsat, and six others was stalled on Monday due to their inability to file pending applications before the Kano State High Court. The defendants face an 11-count charge filed by the Kano State Government, bordering on bribery, conspiracy, misappropriation, and diversion of public funds amounting to billions of naira.
Prosecution counsel, Adeola Adedipe (SAN), informed the court that the state was ready to proceed with its case and had witnesses in attendance. However, the defence team, led by Mrs. Lydia Oluwakemi-Oyewo, argued that their affidavits had not been properly served on all parties and requested an adjournment. Other defence counsels also cited pending motions, including a stay of proceedings filed at the Court of Appeal and a preliminary objection.
Justice Amina Adamu-Aliyu directed all parties to ensure that their motions are filed and duly served before the next sitting. The case was subsequently adjourned to November 26, 2025, for the hearing of all pending applications, marking yet another delay in the high-profile corruption case.
