Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has declared that security has significantly improved across the state, saying residents can now “sleep with their eyes closed.” Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Soludo explained that his administration had reclaimed eight local government areas, including Ihiala, that were once “no-go zones” due to the activities of non-state actors.
The governor attributed the progress to his firm commitment to protecting lives and property under his administration’s five-point agenda. He recalled that before he assumed office, security challenges had worsened to the point where even politicians and security operatives were targets.
“Before we came into office, nobody could wear anything political. Police stations were burnt down, soldiers were attacked, and some areas were inaccessible. But today, everybody can sleep with their two eyes closed,” Soludo said.
