A cargo plane leased by Emirates SkyCargo veered off the runway at Hong Kong International Airport early Monday morning, crashing into a security patrol car and skidding into the sea — killing two ground workers.
The ACT Airlines Boeing 747-400 was attempting to land when it abruptly turned left mid-runway, broke through the airport fence, and plunged partially into the surrounding seawater.
Officials confirmed that the aircraft, operating from Dubai, carried no cargo at the time, and all crew members are safe.
Authorities have launched a full investigation into the cause of the crash, with the Air Accident Investigation Authority and police not ruling out a criminal probe.
