Nigerian singer Slimcase has expressed concern that the Afrobeats genre is becoming monotonous as artistes flood the industry with too many songs and albums.
Taking to his Instagram story, Slimcase said many musicians are putting themselves under unnecessary pressure to stay relevant instead of taking time to create fresh, inspiring sounds.
“Too many songs, too many albums. Una too dey put una self for pressure for this Niger sha. Take a chill pill and be like Rihanna — do other things and come back give us a fresh vibe.
Your sounds are getting boring cus dem be coming too much in a year… Everyday, every second singles and albums dey kill Afrobeats gradually — it’s not fun anymore.”
