FC Barcelona are pushing to sign Marcus Rashford on a permanent deal for a fee in the region of £25 million, but Manchester United are holding out for closer to £40 million.
United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is reportedly unwilling to sanction a cut-price exit, aware that Rashford’s strong form at Barça could inflate his market value further, especially with the World Cup fast approaching.
Sources close to the player indicate that Rashford has no plans to return to Old Trafford. His relationship with the club appears strained, with United legend Paul Scholes recently branding him “a disgrace.”
