As battle against insurgents intensified at the weekend, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), through its Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai (AC OPHK), launched a joint operation with ground troops at Dar-El-Jamal village in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State and neutralised over 30 insurgents.
NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the operation was conducted on Friday, Sept. 5 , 2025, following reports of heavy terrorist engagement against friendly forces at Dar-El-Jamal village.
Ejodame stated that, following a prompt response to the situation report, the AC OPHK launched an Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) and Air Interdiction (AI) mission.
He added that during the journey, the aircrew established contact with ground forces in Banki, who confirmed that reinforcements were already mobilising to support the troops.
“On arrival at Dar Jamel, the aircrew visually identified friendly forces before ISR scans revealed terrorists fleeing northwards from the town towards nearby bushes. In a series of three precise and successive strikes, the fleeing terrorists were decisively engaged, resulting in the neutralisation of over 30 insurgents.
“Shortly afterwards, reinforcement troops arrived at the location, secured the area, and stabilised the situation,” the NAF spokesman said.
Another account of the fighting in Borno State on Friday from a neutral source but yet to be confirm stories stated that at least 60 persons mostly civilians and five soldiers were killed in fresh terrorists attack in Bama Local Area of Borno State Friday night at about 9:00 pm.
According to the report by the local, terrorists over the night invaded Darul Jamal, a recently resettled village in the Local Government Area close to Banki Town and killed many unsuspecting innocent residents and travellers.
It lamented that Bama which was severely raided a decade ago by the terrorists and it’s residents force to flee in what was one of the largest displacement and humanitarian cases in the North East region, was left ito suffer yet another set back.
The source recalled that following the previous attacks almost all the towns and villages were deserted and displaced.
It added that after massive military operations, the LGA was reclaimed from terrorists and the Nigerian and Borno State governments began resettling the displaced persons in 2016, with the latest being the Darul Jamal community.
The source said several residents killed during Friday attacks were among the relocated IDPs who are hosted at the Government Science Secondary School IDP camp.
‘At least 59 civilians and five soldiers were killed and with several residents unaccounted for or gone missing.
‘Over 20 houses and ten buses were also burnt down,’ the source added.
