The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed six officers attached to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Rivers State Command after they were exposed for brutalizing a man and his friends over an expired tinted permit.
The officers reportedly demanded a ₦1 million bribe from the victim, and when he failed to pay, they resorted to violence. Videos of the incident, which sparked outrage on social media, prompted an internal investigation that led to their dismissal.
Police authorities confirmed the disciplinary action, stressing that the Force would not tolerate misconduct, extortion, or abuse of citizens’ rights by its personnel.
