Popular Nigerian dancer Kafayat Oluwatoyin Shafau, aka Kaffy, has shared her experience of being stereotyped in relationships due to her status as a single mother. Speaking on The Honest Bunch podcast, she revealed that a man once disqualified her from consideration for marriage simply because she had two children.
Kaffy, 45, questioned societal bias against single parents, arguing that divorced or single parents who have worked on themselves could even make better partners. She added that there is no guarantee that people who have never been married would have more successful unions, noting that many marriages still end in divorce.
The dance queen was previously married to Joseph Ameh, drummer for P-Square, in July 2015 before their divorce in January 2022. Their union produced two children, with Kaffy citing personal growth and a lack of “destiny alignment” as reasons for the separation.
