In a significant stride toward restoring peace in Nigeria, the Bloggers and Vloggers, Content Creators Association of Nigeria (BAVCCA) has lauded Oluwatosin Ajayi, Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), for his relentless efforts in apprehending high-profile terrorist leaders.
BAVCCA, the leading body for digital storytellers dedicated to promoting truth and unity, celebrated Ajayi’s leadership as a beacon of hope in Nigeria’s fight against terrorism.
Under Ajayi’s command, the DSS has achieved remarkable successes, including the arrest of Abubakar Abba, the notorious leader of the Mahmuda terror group, in Wawa, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State. The operation, executed with precision and without violence, targeted a key figure destabilizing communities near Kainji National Park. Abba was swiftly transferred to Abuja for interrogation, showcasing the DSS’s efficiency. Additionally, joint sting operations led to the capture of Mahmud Muhammad Usman, alias Abu Bara’a, the self-proclaimed Emir of the Ansaru terrorist faction, and his Chief of Staff, Mahmud al-Nigeri, alias Mallam Mamuda, both responsible for orchestrating attacks and kidnappings across the country.
BAVCCA President Ikechukwu Chukwunyere praised Ajayi’s strategic approach, stating, “DG Ajayi’s ‘silent but effective’ leadership has delivered monumental victories against terrorism, reflecting a commitment to results over recognition.”
He highlighted Ajayi’s past successes, such as the 2009 rescue of Canadian hostage Julie Ann Mulligan in Kaduna, noting, “His coordination ensured a flawless operation without ransom or loss of life, a testament to his quiet resolve.”
BAVCCA reaffirmed its commitment to amplifying these achievements, with Chukwunyere stating, “As bloggers and vloggers, we will use our platforms to inspire hope and unity among Nigerians.”
The association called for increased government support for the DSS through enhanced funding and resources to sustain these gains, emphasizing, “DG Ajayi and his operatives are the silent guardians of Nigeria’s future, and their sacrifices underpin our nation’s security.
