President Bola Tinubu has named Opeyemi Agbaje as the new Chairman of the National Pension Commission (PenCom), a move seen as partly responding to mounting pressure from the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC).
Though an official announcement is still awaited from the Presidency, a source confirmed the appointment to Nairametrics.
Agbaje, a respected financial expert and former banking executive, steps into the leadership role at a crucial moment for PenCom, which oversees the pension assets of millions of Nigerian workers. His appointment is expected to usher in fresh reforms, particularly as labour unions have been calling for greater transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the pension system.
