Kojo Boakye, Meta’s VP for WhatsApp Public Policy (Africa, Middle East & Türkiye), revealed the platform’s new safety tools have aggressively targeted sophisticated scams, blocking over 6.8 million criminal scam-linked accounts in the first half of 2025 alone.
He stressed the ongoing battle against fraudsters, saying WhatsApp is constantly updating defenses to protect users better.
