MayDay2025: Governor Okpebholo Salutes Edo Workers for Driving State’s Growth

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has paid glowing tribute to workers across the state in celebration of Workers’ Day, acknowledging their resilience, dedication, and pivotal role in the state’s development.

In a May Day message released by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, Governor Okpebholo described Edo’s workforce as the “pillars of our society” whose tireless efforts shape communities, strengthen the economy, and steer the state toward progress.

“Your hard work and sacrifices—whether as civil servants, healthcare professionals, teachers, artisans, or entrepreneurs—are deeply appreciated. You are the engine behind Edo’s advancement,” he stated.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare, highlighting efforts to ensure the timely payment of salaries and pensions, creation of safe work environments, and investment in capacity-building programmes to equip the workforce.

Governor Okpebholo also noted the importance of industrial harmony, pledging continued collaboration with labour unions, employers, and civil society to uphold workers’ rights and enhance productivity.

He commended the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) for their advocacy and urged workers to remain steadfast in their service and dedication to the state’s prosperity.
