Breaking: Nigeria’s Vice President Shettima to receive Delta governor Oborevwori, Okowa, others into APC

In a significant political shift, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and his predecessor, former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, have officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The announcement was made on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, following a high-level meeting at the Government House in Asaba.

The mass defection includes the entire PDP structure in Delta State, encompassing local government chairmen, state lawmakers, and other key stakeholders. This move is seen as a strategic realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Vice President Kashim Shettima is expected to formally receive the defectors into the APC at an upcoming event in Abuja.

This development marks a pivotal moment in Delta State’s political landscape and could have significant implications for the 2027 elections.
