Acting Governor Borno State, Hon. Umar Usman kadafur has inaugurates chairmen and members of the newly constituted state assembly commission and 14 other statutory boards on Thursday at the Multi Purpose Hall of the Government House Maiduguri, calling on them to repose the confidence government and people of Borno State have on them.
He also said government carefully selected the board members based on merits and their experiences as well as support and contributions to the state while urging them to carry out their responsibilities dedicatively and exhibit commitment to their duties.
The acting governor further charged them to be accountable and responsible while carrying out their assignments without nepotism, tribalism, favouritism, religious sentiments or bias but should be fair, honest and responsible.
“Government will avail you with your working tools and I urge you not to derail in your responsibilities as anybody found wanting will be held responsible and made to face the wrath of the law.
“Government has zero tolerance for corruption and financial indiscipline . As such, government can not condone and financial recklessness from anybody shaddle with public trust and responsibility,” Kadafur said.
The swearing ceremony was administered by the Borno State Chief Judge, Justice Zanna Shettima’ represented by the Chief Magistrate, Borno State, Ali Abba Laisa who administered the oath of office and allegiance to all the 15 commission and boards chairmen respectively .
The statutory boards and commission are Borno State Local Government Pension Board, Borno State Urban Planning and Development Board, Borno State Geographic Information Service, Borno State Education Trust Fund Board, Maiduguri, Borno State Audit Service Commission, Borno State Board of Internal Revenue Service and Borno Express Transport Corporation.
Others Include Borno Investment Company, Borno State Housing Corporation, Borno State Drugs and Medical Consumables Management Agency, Borno State Social Investment Management Programme, Borno State Livestock Management Agency, Borno State Information and Communication Technology Development Agency,
Borno State Secondary Education Board and Borno State House of Assembly Service Commission.
On behalf of the 15 chairmen of commission and boards , the , Chairman of BOGIS, Zanna Mhadi, thanked the governor for finding them capable and trustworthy with such responsibilities while assuring that they will not disappoint or fail the government and peppes confidence reposed on them.
