President of the Court of Appeal Justice Monica Bolna’an Dongban-Mensem along with the Christian Justices of the Court of Appeal worshipped at the newly built Court of Appeal Catholic chapel in the premises of Headquarters of Court of Appeal Abuja on Monday.
Simultaneously a moslem prayer was held by Moslem brother Justices in a mosque adjacent the Catholic chapel to mark the commencement of a 2023/2024 new legal. In both services the justices of Court of Appeal offered prayers to God Almighty for sparing their lives to witness the new legal year.
They prayed for all the courts in the land and asked for wisdom in handling the responsibilities bestowed upon them as Justices noting that in situations where parties in dispute know the true but hide it and ask the judges to decide, they would continually seeks God guardian.
The justices also plea for forgiveness of sins and for grace to abhor sin.
They prayed for Nigeria leaders for God’s wisdom and guidance. The justices also prayed for all staff of Court of Appeal.
In a sermon, Bishop of Bauchi Catholic Diocese , Hilary Nanman Dechelem
said that the Justices are doing the work of God whose job nobody can do.
According to him,the judges need God more than any other person as they are entrusted with God’s job on earth .
“You need God to perform your duty, adding that God is the ultimate judge. He had delegated that duty to you to judge others on earth and He remains the final judge. “Take your job seriously, as no other job is as demanding as yours” He also enjoined the judges to decide cases brought before them according to their consciences.
In her remark, the President of Court of Appeal Justice Dongban-Mensem said that the chapel was built by lovers of friend of Jesus Christ. The Court of Appeal only provided land earmarked for Christian worship, she disclosed.
She described the personnel of Court of Appeal as vibrant adding that all need God .
