Mr Hakeem Sokunle, a two-term member representing Oshodi/Isolo Constituency I at the Lagos State House of Assembly, on Tuesday, has said his ambition is to bring development to the area.
Sokunle, the Chairman, House Committee on Healthcare Services, disclosed this to newsmen during an inspection tour of various projects in his constituency.
“There are still more to come, I have dedicated myself to this, bringing development to Oshodi is my job.
“I may not have executive powers or budgetary allocation for this as a lawmaker, but whichever way I can use my position to facilitate development to my people, I will do.
“This is my commitment to my people; I will continue to do it as long as I remain in office.
“What you have witnessed today is little compared to what I have done, come on Thursday during our stakeholders’ meeting and hear the testimonies of my people,” the lawmaker said.
Sokunle said apart from facilitating roads rehabilitation he had also sunk boreholes on many streets in Oshodi to put a stop to residents endless search for water.
According to him, some streets that have benefited from the boreholes include Ishola Daniel, Igbehinadun, Oseni Ewu, Fabukade, Aremo Olatunbosun, Ogunkoya and Wabi Larinde among others.
He added that he had also provided toilet facilities to Ajumoni Central Mosque.
Meanwhile, several residents took turns to commend the lawmaker’s developmental strides in the constituency during the inspection, describing Sokunle as God-sent.
They applauded Sokunle for facilitating rehabilitation of some major roads within Oshodi -Isolo which include Adeyemi St., Ishola Daniel St., Adejumonbi St., Agoijaye, Old Ewu road Mafoluku and Ogunoloko Street.
Other roads they commended the lawmaker for included: Baderin St., Adesanya St., Oyegoke St., Raliat Memud St., St Paul St. and Oludegun Ave., among others.
Speaking to newsmen, the Education Secretary of Oshodi/Isolo Local Government Education Authority, Mr Olufemi Ogunwusi, who decried the deplorable state of roads, lauded the efforts of the lawmaker.
According to him, due to the poor condition of roads, students’ access to schools had been with some hitches.
Another resident, Mrs Aduni Oladipupo of Ogunoloko Street. said, “We want to appreciate Hon. Olusola Sokunle for the rehabilitation of this road which has improved economic activities in this axis.”
The Head Teacher, Local Government Primary School, Orile Oshodi Mr Olufemi Ajayi, also praised the lawmaker’s efforts at facilitating road rehabilitation in the area.
