No fewer than four persons were dead and several others with different degrees of injury during the attack on
Ukemberagya Community in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State by suspected armed herdsmen on Tuesday night.
An eyewitness account has it that the attackers after causing mayhem went ahead and attacked Iorza, Tse-hwer, Tse-Pegh, Gafa, Azege, Kwagher and Usa villages.
Speaking on condition of anonymity the eyewitness told Sleeknews that the herders came in their numbers with cattle carrying loads on their backs, adding that without provocation started shooting sporadically ransacking the villages with inhabitants fleeing to the nearby communities.
The informant revealed that the herders came from different directions at the same time and blocked the only escape route where the people were camping at Iorza headquarters of Ukemberagya council ward attacking killing and injuring several villagers.
The eyewitness who was visibly unstable because of the killings and injuries of the villagers appealed to both the state and federal government as well as organizations, international and local and well spirited individuals to assist the victims.
Efforts made to get reaction from the caretaker committee chairman of Logo Local Government Area as well as the police to confirm the exact number of casualties failed.
