Nigeria’s U20 national team, the Flying Eagles, kicked off preparations for the 24th FIFA U20 World Cup with their first full training session in Santiago, Chile, on Wednesday evening. The session, held at the Cancha Liga Training Pitch, lasted two hours under the guidance of head coach Aliyu Zubair, as the squad worked on tactical drills and fitness.
Earlier in the day, the team had a recovery session at their base, Le Meridien Hotel, before moving into more intensive training. The Flying Eagles will continue their build-up with a friendly match against the Chile U20 team on Saturday, September 20, followed by another test game against Australia U20 on Tuesday, September 23.
The fixtures are part of the team’s preparation for the global tournament, with expectations high that Nigeria’s youth side will make a strong impact on the world stage.
