Senate President Godswill Akpabio has declared that by 2027, other political parties will no longer matter in Akwa lbom State, as all structures are aligning behind key leaders.
Speaking during his midterm empowerment briefing at the Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium on Friday, Akpabio – who represents Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District — claimed that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is in disarray, stating that its symbolic umbrella is now “in shreds and can no longer offer protection.”
He praised Governor Umo Eno, describing him as a man of peace and genuine faith, saying Eno has brought unity to the state. “I’m not talking about people who profess God with their lips; Umo Eno practices God from the heart,” he said.
Akpabio went on to assert that by 2027, political party affiliations will be irrelevant in the state. According to him, all political structures have united behind his senatorial ambition and Governor Eno’s re-election bid.
“As I speak, there’s nothing like political parties in Akwa Ibom for 2027. For Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, every party has collapsed to support Senator Godswill Akpabio.
For the governorship, they’ve all aligned to back Governor Umo Eno,” he said.
He concluded by emphasizing the state’s collective support for President Bola Tinubu, Governor Eno, and himself ahead of the next political cycle.
