The Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has been lauded for its outstanding coordination of 2024 Hajj operations in Saudi Arabia.

A member of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Ulama Committee, Sheikh (Dr.) Rafiu Al-Ijebuwi, who commended the Board in an interview with newsmen in Mecca, described Ogun State as one of the most reliable states in Nigeria, in Hajj operations.

Sheikh (Dr) Al-Ijebuuwi, in a statement signed by Lateefhat Ayoola, Press Officer, OGMPWB, highlighted the Board’s success in thoroughly sensitising pilgrims on their conducts while in the Holy Land, noting that no Ogun pilgrim had breached Saudi laws.

“I have always regarded the Board as one of the best, even from my days as a student here in Saudi. They take Hajj operations seriously and ensure their pilgrims are well-informed”.

“During a collaborative sensitisation programme with my agency in Medina, I observed their high level of organisation and dedication to providing a seamless Hajj experience. Their commitment to excellence is evident here in Mecca as well”, he said.

He urged the Board to continue its efforts in sensitising the pilgrims as the Hajj rites were about to commence in earnest, reminding them that all pilgrims were viewed as Nigerians in Saudi Arabia, irrespective of their state of origin.

Responding, the Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Dauda Salau, expressed gratitude to Governor Dapo Abiodun for his commitment to the welfare of the state’s pilgrims, acknowledging the support from the Ad-hoc Committee for the Hajj exercise, which had positively impacted the pilgrimage.

Meanwhile, Alhaji Salau said the pilgrims were fully prepared for the conduct of necessary hajj rites in Saudi Arabia, highlighting arrangements made with service providers to guarantee adequate tents for the pilgrims at Arafat and other Holy Sites.

“Our pilgrims have been fully sensitised about the Hajj rites on a daily basis. All necessary materials to ensure smooth operations have been provided. The Governor has supported every aspect of the pilgrimage exercise, ensuring that our pilgrims lack nothing”, he said
