The Federal High Court Abuja on Thursday declared Alhaji Ali Sani Kona as the authentic candidate of All Progressive Congress ,APC, for Taraba North Senatorial District in 2023 elections.
Consequent upon the decision, Justice Donatus Okorowo had ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission , INEC, to withdraw the certificate of return issued Senator Sani Abubakar and to issue a fresh certificate of return to Ali Sani who won the APC primaries for the senatorial district.
The order was contained in a Judgment delivered on Thursday following a suit filed by Alhaji Sani challenging the substitution of his name with that of senator Sani Abubakar without his consent.
“I hereby resolve the all reliefs sought in favor of the plaintiff,” the judge held.
He said that, the primaries in which Sani Abubakar claimed he had emerged the winner, was unauthorized and “not monitored by Electoral panel set up by the APC National working committee.”
But, one of the defendants who lost in the suit Aminu Abdu Liman said he will study the judgement with his legal team and chart a way forward.
He appealed to his supporters to remain calm and eschew violence as justice will definitely take it course.
