Cedric Lodge, former morgue manager at Harvard Medical School, has been sentenced to eight years in prison for stealing and selling human body parts donated for research. Lodge, 58, removed dissected heads, brains, and other remains from the morgue and, with the help of his wife Denise, sold them to buyers across several states. Denise Lodge received a one-year sentence.

Authorities said the scheme violated donor trust and caused deep distress to families, emphasizing the seriousness of ethical breaches in medical research.

Harvard Medical School condemned the actions as “abhorrent” and inconsistent with its standards, highlighting the importance of protecting donated remains.
